Description
Pike’s Peak or Bust! It is 1859 and Explorers have been pulled back through time, to the days of the ‘overland’ pioneers. During this session, children will learn about the skills early settlers needed to survive a long trek across the plains, and how to thrive on their homesteads. Explorers will learn about the food pioneers ate, and how to use a compass, make candles, and start a fire with flint and steel.
This camp will focus on the lives of Colorado pioneer families, particularly the children, to help bring this history to life. Selected excerpts from journals will be read and Explorers will have the opportunity to keep their own journals.
The Littleton Museum summer programs have been a tradition for over 40 years. History Adventures help our participating Explorers understand the experiences of people from the past who have called Colorado home through hands-on activities and instruction from expert historical interpreters.
These day-long activities are open to 12 children per session and require prior registration to attend. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
All sessions are from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and cost $50 per day per child.
